Honolulu police officers accused of dodging court service in DUI lawsuit
1+ week, 16+ hour ago (388+ words) HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Three Honolulu police officers accused of wrongful DUI arrests are now facing allegations they deliberately avoided a process server in a class action lawsuit. Records show officers Ridge Newcom and Kelsey Messmer, along with recently retired officer Darren Cachola, have been evading service of legal papers. Cachola has a history of disciplinary issues. The process server spent nearly 50 hours working to track down all the defendants in the case, including other HPD officers who accepted the papers months ago. Only Newcom, Messmer and Cachola gave the court the runaround, according to recently filed documents. There were 10 attempts to serve Messmer, nine attempts to serve Newcom, and six attempts to serve Cachola the paperwork. Strong winds expected as front passes over Hawaii Island
2+ week, 1+ day ago (243+ words) HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A cold front over Kohala, Hawaii Island, and surrounding areas will move south towards Ka Lae this morning bringing an increase in showers, especially along windward slopes. Behind the cold front are gusty strong trade winds that will develop as the front passes; which Ni'ihau through Maui County are already feeling. Breezy trades overrunning the front will focus most of the showers along windward and mauka areas. The rainfall rates should be limited. These strong winds will become established across the state by Tuesday as high pressure builds to the north. Another reinforcing front with an even stronger high pressure system will arrive midweek, providing another boost in the east- northeasterly trades. With mid level ridging persisting over the region, inversion heights will remain low, keeping the moisture confined to lower levels and focusing clouds and showers over…...

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Last week's red flag warning is a reminder about the importance of fire prevention and preparedness. "Aviation assets have limitations, especially when we're looking at high wind events, and if we do have a fire, what are our options?
